The Campaign for a Fair Society wants power and control to shift from government to citizens, families and communities. But we don't want the government's 'Big Society' if that means a loss of basic human rights and unfair cuts focussed on the most vulnerable. We want a fair society.
Now there is a dangerthat cuts will turn backthe clock. Tighteningeligibility criteria andwithdrawing allowanceswill drive people backinto dependence onservices. It’s a falseeconomy.
When people havecontrol and lead fulfillinglives, their needs becomeless severe. But we areon the verge of a move toservices that dehumaniseand exclude people again.
There is another way.
